Pink Eye

Monday night at dinner I noticed that TL had some yucky yellow stuff in the corner of his eye. His eye looked fine so I just figured that he had a little bit of sleepy stuff in his eye. Later that night we went to D's ball game and TL's eye just kept getting worse. By 9:00 it was very red and swollen and had oozy gross stuff coming out of it like crazy. It was very gross and I wondered if it was pink eye but it was really bad so I figured that it was something else. When we put him to bed he kept crying and saying that his eye hurt. We gave him some drops that I had from before and let him go back to sleep. At around 11:00 he woke up crying and he could not open his eye. It was very swollen and very yucky looking and I was scared that something was wrong with his eye. My parents were still here so D and I took him into the emergency room while my parents stayed with the other kids at home. The doctor looked at his eye and told us that it was a very bad case of pink eye and that the drops we already had would work just fine to clear it up. I feel pretty silly because I was so worried and had us take him to the hospital and it was just pink eye. I wish that I had gotten a picture of his eye that night so that my actions could be justified to all of you. But here is a picture taken the next morning. In the picture his eye looks so much better than it did the night before (I promise)! Sometimes I wonder about my motherly instincts. I guess it is better that I knew what was wrong instead of doing nothing and having his eye permanently injured!
