Spaghetti Squash
I had to post to let you all know of my first attempt at cooking a spaghetti squash. My lovely sister-in-law, Shauna, gave us one of her beautiful spaghetti squash that she has grown in her garden this year. I thought that it would be fun to try something new. I am not a huge fan of squash in general, I do like the taste but the texture is not something I love so I usually avoid eating it, so I thought that this squash would be good for me with the different texture and all. Well, I cooked it last night and put butter and salt and pepper on it and a little bit of Parmesan cheese and..........I really liked it! It was really yummy and the texture was a little different but I really liked it (thanks Shauna!). D also really liked it, he loves squash! So, now the kids, well you can always tell if BL doesn't like something because she will get this huge smile on her face and say, " Mmmmm, I LOVE the squash!" but then she won't even touch it ever again. So strike one. DL also did not like it very much but he did eat most of what I gave him. Strike two. TL also did not like it and did not want to eat it. D told the kids that they each had to have 4 bites so TL took one and then said that he didn't want to take any more bites. I told him he needed to and he said, " I don't want to cause it makes me wiggle!" I'm sure that you have all seen it when a kid takes a bite of something they think is gross and it makes their little bodies shake. (Megan, I actually had a small flash back to DL and your pumpkin shrimp soup!) I thought it was cute that he said that, and he was such a trooper because he did end up taking those last three bites! Okay, so he was our strike three! The most surprising was SL (he is now 22 months old) he loved every single bite of the squash! I even gave him seconds and he loved it! So, I guess we may or may not be having more of the spaghetti squash at out house, 3 of us like it a lot, and the other 3 did not care for it. Thanks again to Shauna for letting us try some!
